Our little elf

Check out our little elf! One of the nurses in the nursey made these hats for all the "holiday babies"And don't mom and Sophie both look great considering what they went through! And big brother came in to meet his sister for the first time. He is going to be a great big brother! And look who else came to visit! In case anyone remembers and is wondering, David did celebrate her arrival with a small glass of grandpa Max's 30 year old scotch. We didn't get a good picture, but the last time the bottle was opened, was the night Noah was born.
Good night for now.

Sophie Madelyn is here!

Welcome Sophie Madelyn. She was born 11:05 am December 23 about 4 weeks early. Mommy and daddy weren't completely ready for her, but Kathy's blood pressure was quite high, and she was ready! This is the first entry in her own blog. We haven't decided if we will continue to blogs, or soon combine a brother and sister Noah and Sophie blog. But for now, here it is.

She is a real little doll.
Mommy and Sophie meet for the first time--at least meet face to face.

We are so sure she is going to love her big brother Noah. Already he is so good with her and has promised her he will take good care of her.
And cousin Josh was here too!

We have all had a long couple days. At only 15 hours old, her temperture has gone down a little and her blood sugar was low, and the doctors were concerned about an infection. She wss in the neonatal ICU and we were up all night. She is one brave little girl. She had to have an IV put in, have her blood drawn from an artery, and at 4 AM she had a spinal tap. She is on 2 antibiotics in case there is an infection though we won't know for ~48 hours. David was with her through all the tests and can tell you all she is going to be one strong and very remarkable little girl.

Lot's of visitors came to see her once she was out of the ICU including Erin

And Aunt Erin and Uncle Kyle
We are so overjoyed with the additon to our family of four. We are so sure that Grammy knew that Sophie Madelyn is here and we are sure she was waiting for her. Grammy left us today 12/24, after a very long and hard battle these past few months. We all wish we could have been with her, but all of our prayers were there. She is no doubt smiling at her little granddaughter, and appreciative that her middle name is Madelyn and not Magdalen!

We will update you on Sophie's progress with more pictures soon.

Love, us.
